MERRY CHRISTMAS !!! Keep checking for our Christmas Party pictures. I’ll put them on and update your grades as soon as I can. Right now, I have been blocked out of the room because they are still working on fixing our floor. (You should see the things in the hallway!) If I can’t get in by Wednesday, it will most likely be after Christmas before I will focus on school again. In the meantime, have a great vacation!!! See you all in January…
Our class has been invited to joi the “Engineer in the Classroom” program, which follows the Rube Goldberg idea of taking something simple and making it complex. The program brings an engineer into the classroom to work with the students to design and build a machine, and then compete against area schools. This year the elementary competition is titled “Build a Better Mousetrap” and will held on Saturday, March 6th at the Caterpillar Proving Grounds in Edwards, IL. In order to design and construct a Rube Goldberg project we will need a lot of JUNK!!! Please scour your house for all the non- valuable junk you can find–please remember to ask your parents first because you will not get it back–and bring it to school after the break. See Rube Goldberg tab to the right for more information.

** I’m sorry! I forgot to pass out our report card today! I was able to find all but 5 students after school. **
Parent /Teacher Conference Schedule
All times are listed below by your student’s classroom number. Please call the office if you have any changes you need to make.

We now have a new homework tab on the web site.Everyday our homework will be posted there. Last year, we used a free pod casting site which has now gone the way of paid membership, which has messed with my routine a bit. However, I think the solution under the homework tab will work out well. Now that this has started, I will no longer be signing the assignment notebooks . Just to keep them interested in the habit, the students have been told to expect extra credit points along the lines of…” For two extra credit points, what was the math assignment on Wednesday, Oct. 27th ?” I will also be spot checking as I walk about the room.
Vocabulary Videos Today we acted out our weekly vocabulary words. Please enjoy our efforts at stardom! FINALLY !!!!

SUMMER….
Reading: 10 books!
Join the library program or use the school sailboat option! …but read, read, read this summer. Studies have shown you can start school almost 6 months ahead of your peers who didn’t read a thing! Borders is offering a book at 50% off after reading 8 books. Barnes and Noble is offering one free book after reading 8 books. (You must pick from a prearranged selection at both stores.) Click here to see the cool offer from Borders
All skills: Daily workbook pages are another great way to help keep you sharp. Below are a few of my favorites. (Can be purchased at most books stores)
